History
A plain iron hoop was the fore-runner of today’s engagement ring. The old Roman tradition was to give a ring, a symbol of the cycle of life and eternity as a public pledge that the marriage contract would be honoured.
In medieval days, the rich were married with rings set with gems and by the 15th century the diamond, then the symbol of conjugal faithfulness because of its resistance to fire and steel, became part of the ritual of weddings.
In the 19th century the bride could expect two rings: a gem-set engagement ring, and the actual wedding ring which, in Victorian times, was no more than a slim gold band.
Today
Wedding rings set with diamonds have again become increasingly popular, and surprisingly affordable. Compare the cost of your wedding rings with the cost of the wedding dress, flowers or honeymoon, and consider that your rings will be a lasting symbol of your marriage.
All our wedding rings are hand made in 18ct gold, platinum or titanium, which has become increasingly popular, particularly for the groom. We can create bespoke rings to your own design or perhaps to fit an engagement ring perfectly. We can also engrave a personal message inside the rings for you.
Accessories for the wedding
We have an extensive range of quality cultured pearls. Pearls are perhaps the perfect accessory for your wedding, their subtle colours and classic style complement any wedding dress. After the wedding day they will become one of the most versatile items in your jewel box looking equally as good worn casually or on more formal occasions.
Wedding gifts
Bridesmaids presents, a gift for the best man, silver photograph frames, silver gifts for the home. We offer a wide range of gifts in gold and silver, many of which can be engraved to add that personal touch.
